Gearing up for bazaar season

It's that time of year again! Yup, that's right folks, Christmas is a comin'. This year times are tough for many. One way to make those pennies stretch a little farther is to make your own gifts. (or you could buy things from me at a craft sale and just say you made them! j/k lol)

This is one of the little things I am making to sell but they are also really simple and easy to do yourself!

This note pad holder is made using a SU! clear mount case. You get 4 of these for $5.95 making this project easy on the pocketbook too! I bought a bunch of Jr. Legal pads from my local office supply store and for about $3 they cut down all 12 of them to 6 inches long. I just replaces the label at the top with patterned paper. After decorating the insert I just slid it in and voila!

I first saw this idea on the Chic N Scratch blog with Angie Kennedy but I've seen them all over. I think one of the ideas that I saw was to put a make it Christmas themes and put a little pocket on the inside cover to hold receipts. Great way even through out the year to keep track of gifts. :)

Hope you have a fantastic weekend!!

Sharing in a nation's sorrow

Today is one of "those days". A day that we as Americans will never forget. Much like the attack on Pearl Harbor and Pres. Kennedy being assassinated people know just where they were and what they were doing. Those things are ingrained in us.

Today I wanted to share a card that I made last night after watching one of the many specials that are being aired. I felt like I needed to do something with all the hurt that I was feeling. It's a simple card but I couldn't see through the tears to do much more.

I pray for those that lost a loved one that day and for the first responders who continue to be effected daily with chronic health issues. God bless America.

3D-orama!

Has anyone noticed that "3D" isn't what it used to be? I remember seeing Captain Eoh (have no idea how that's spelled) at Disney and being amazed by the 3D action. We were all ducking side to side so as not to get hit with imagined debris. Good times I tell ya! Not so much now. I just don't understand it. Why the giant step back?

Well my 3D projects won't make you bob and weave, but will hopefully make you squeal with delight! I know I did!

First I have a pillow box candy holder with a halloween theme.

Next is something that I just love to death! I am a huge reader and my biggest wish is that my son will love it as much as I do. In order to foster this I decided to make something fun for him. He just started Kindergarten this week and one of the things they do at his school is have the entire school read the same book on the same schedule. I think this is a fantastic idea so I decided to make these for his whole class.

I have been seeing these bookmarks all over the internet so this is definitely a cased project but I decided to make up a little poem to go with it. "I am a happy book monster. I like to see how much you read. Don't leave me in one place too long, or I might have to feed!" I thought it was pretty clever. ;)

Paint chip fun

All over the internet lately I've been noticing all the fun people have been having with the free paint chip samples you can get at home improvement stores. A couple years ago I made these cute Easter cards for a swap I was doing. It was so much fun making these! Guess I was ahead of my time! hee Enjoy!
